Motivation

Happy Summer! It is beyond hot here in the bluegrass state, almost unbearable. How are you holding up where you are? I started this post as a fitness motivation post for myself and then quick realized I that I  honestly just needed to ask for motivation from you all. Truth is I find it hard to go to work, go to the gym and come home to work on my other businesses (blog, plant nite, wedding stuff), as well as do household things (cook, clean, laundry). How do you all do it all? How do  you keep it straight? With the wedding being less then 100 days away I guess I am asking for suggestions. What works for you?

Suggestions on:
1.Quick and easy workout routines (30 mins or so)
 2. Daily schedules on household chores (day you do each task and for how long)
3. Business ladies: How do you work a full-time job and run your other businesses?
4. Brides: When you are 100 days out from your wedding what task do you suggest to make sure everything is organized and ready?
I honestly think this post could help many who are in need motivation or ideas. If you have any suggestions bring them on! Also I am speaking my workout into existence with this cute athleisure outfit, shop similar ones below.

Bachelorette Party Dress

Shop: Dress (One, Two) | Heels | Lipstick | Bracelet | Earrings

Next month I am preparing to head to my bachelorette party in one of my favorite cities, NYC, with a few of my best girls. I wanted to do something a little different. I have been to Vegas multiple times and knew I didn’t want to go there. I am not a huge beach person, so Miami was out of the question (not because I don’t like water or sand, but because I am allergic to the sun, which is a pain).  I am a city girl and what is one of the the best cities in the world? NYC of course!

In anticipation of this upcoming weekend I am already planning out outfits to wear. The first one is this sequins dress, which is perfect for the party, and that is when I attend to wear it. This will be my going out dress. Comfortable, a statement in itself; it is a great dress for a night out on the town with the girls. I paired it with sliver heels and a red lip to give a little pop of color. Looking forward to sharing more of my NYC looks. Shop this one below!

Friday Feels

I need a tropical vacation ASAP, but since that is not happening I can at least pretend and dress like I am on an island, right??  How do you dress on vacay? My look is usually simple and relaxed with with pops of color and unique accessories, like I did with this outfit here. A black tank goes well with almost anything and white jeans most definitely stand out, particularly during the summer’s lush landscape. I added some color with these coral tassel earrings which I am in love with and will be wearing all summer. Then can we talk about these shoes? They are perfect since I am pretty much the Plant Lady of Louisville! Lol! Did you know the floral meaning of Cactus is longevity and endurance. Something we all need right?!?

Summer, Summer, Summertime

Happy Saturday and Happy Memorial Day Weekend. Who is already for it to officially be summer? Not that it doesn’t already feel like it. In the summer wearing dresses is my thing because they are so simple and easy, especially when it is extremely hot and humid outside. I am a fan of dresses that are airy and light, like this one dress in the post. It is super comfy and great for many occasions, such as work, date night and a get together with friends. I mean it is even appropriate to wear to church, it’s that versatile. Another reason I love this dress is because of the colors, pastels and neutrals. My summer accessories are a simple necklace, some hoops and sunglasses are a must. What is your favorite thing to wear this summer?

Skirt with Panels

Who doesn’t love a skirt with different panels or mix match fabric? This piece is a true winner in my book. It incorporates different textures and patterns to pull off a unique look. This color and texture block A-line has pops of color, polychrome faux suede, and tweed to create a different look to an otherwise boring alternative. The skirt is just fun! Especially paired with this ruffled off the should top. The movement of the skirt as well as the top make the outfit perfect for dancing (makes me want to learn how to salsa :). It is also equally good for date night, a fashion show, or a bachelorette party. Add some accessories and you are off! Honestly one of my favorite outfits I have shot to date. What are your thoughts?

Blush Tones and Trouser Jeans

Blush tones are some of my favorite colors, especially in a cute top like the one I have on in this post. I have been told by many blush is my color! So…with that said I am only wearing blush from now on! (Just joking!) I paired this off the shoulder blouse with light wash denim trousers from RoxyNell. This brand of jeans is made from high quality denim and are custom to fit your body. Who doesn’t want the perfect pair of fitted jeans?? Accessories are a must to finish an outfit. Here I chose tassel earring with beading, a link bracelet, and a super fancy purse (which is by far one of my favorites). This outfit is perfect for date night or a girls night out this spring and summer.

What favorites are you pulling out of your closet this summer for date night? Shop my picks below.

Who Is Ready for Derby??

Shop: Dress | Fascinator (One, Two, Three) | Clutch | Shoes | Necklace

Are you ready for Derby? I’m ready! I have my dress and my fascinator all laid out. What are you wearing? We are a week out from one of the most popular horse races in the US, the Kentucky Derby. It is a tradition if you go to the Derby to wear a hat or a fascinator. I am not a huge hat person, but fascinators are right up my alley. To the point that I am wearing one for my wedding. Fascinators are pretty much all the rage right now and a great alternative to wearing a hat. I think they are great to show your personality or to add a pop of color to your outfit. I have linked many affordable fascinators here and below.

Now on to the dress! What do you wear to the Kentucky Derby? A fancy dress of course. When I get a chance to get all dolled up, I always take it. Going to Churchill Downs on this special day is one of those chances. The Derby is basically a fashion show. The higher the heels and the bigger the hat the better. I bought this dress a couple months ago on sale from Draper James and saved it for this specific event. Isn’t it perfect? (find a similar dress here).

This week heading into the Kentucky Derby there are many fun activities that us locals and out of towners can get involved in, such as Beer Fest, Wine Fest, Boat Race, Pegasus Parade, Chow Wagon and multiple others you can find here.

Happy Derby Week!

Home is the Key: Chico’s Basic Essential Slub Tee

My last blog post explain what the Home is the Key Campaign is all about (read that post here). It is a wonderful campaign with an amazing cause that works towards combating the affordable housing crisis here in the US. I have chosen to collaborating with them by showing off my style in this Chico’s Basic Essential Slub Tee. Chico’s and Chico’s FAS brand stores have partnered with Habitat for Humanity by allow their customers to donate in store and online to help with this cause. Each Chico’s FAS brand stores (White House Black MarketChico’s, and Soma Intimates) have chosen a product to donate all proceeds when purchased to Habitat from April 23-May 31. For Chico’s that item is their Basic Essential Slub Tee, which I am wearing in this post. It is truly the perfect tee because of its high low design that allows it to be longer in the back and shorter in the front, which is great for leggings or that half tucked look. The shirt is super comfortable and works well with jeans, liked I paired it here. I added some cute accessories, such as my legacy belt, beaded earrings and a clutch that showcases one of my favorite fruits, pineapple (which means hospitality and friendship). Style yours anyway you like, considering the tee can go with almost anything.

There are many ways to get involved with Home is the Key. Check out their website (here) for more information.

Home is the Key: White House Black Market Ankle Pant

What is Home is Key? It is Habitat for Humanity’s national campaign to help address the nation’s rising affordable housing problem. Did you know that one in four households in the US pays more then 30% of their income for housing, leaving it very difficult to afford other basic necessities? Having affordable housing allows families to have more resources and live healthier safer lives.  Home is Key wants to unlock the future for many families this April by educating and partnering with people that want to help spread their message. So why not do your part?

There are many ways to get involved in this project, but one I want to specifically focus on in this post deals with shopping, of course! Chico’s FAS, the parent company of White House Black Market (WHBM), Chico’s, and Soma Intimates is supporting this campaign by allowing their customers to donate in each of their stores or online. Also the company has picked specific items from the stores that all the proceeds from that item will be donated to Home is Key during a set time. From April 23-May 31st WHBM proceeds from every Comfort Stretch Ankle Pant sold will go to support Habitat. These pants are super comfy, have great stretch (lets face it ladies we love a pant that has a little give), and the fit is excellent (true to size). I only have one pair, but I am thinking I need to invest in another, especially since it can help a family have a safe living environment and also because they look great with my cactus shirt! 🙂

So join me and get involved by visiting Habitat.org/key and make a donation in any amount. Home is the Key runs through April 30. Every little bit helps!
