I Want a Brownstone in Chelsea

Who doesn’t want a brownstone in NYC? If I ever really do live in the city I totally think a brownstone is the way to go. Now all I have to do is figure out how to pay for it. This is definitely a future goal. For now I will just take pictures in front of cute ones. When I was in NYC last week, that is exactly what I did.

While navigating through Chelsea and other great areas such as the High Line (A 1.45 mile linear park in Manhattan that is elevated on one of NYC’s old railroad), I was a total tourist and used the city as my back drop. If you are ever in NYC you must visit the High Line.

For my outfit while taking it all in, I went for the comfortable but put together look. It was great for the continuous walking we did while there. I paired skinny jeans with a gingham button down, and a puff vest, which is idea for the colder weather. I accessorized the look with riding boots (great for walking long distances, considering I was doing an average of 25k each day), a tote to hold all my gear and sunnies since it was a bright sunny day.

This was a great outfit to play tourist in. What is your favorite outfit to explore a city? Shop my outfit below.

Santa Monica

Still dreaming of the warmer days of last week in Santa Monica. I am back in Kentucky where the temperature has been 18 degrees all the way to almost 60. Mother natural cannot make up her mind. Anyway, my travel style is casual. This is one of my favorite sweaters and I get compliments on it every time I wear it. I paired it with simple black leggings and a v-neck short sleeved tee. I accessorized with aviators sunglasses from Diff Eyewear, which is a company that provides reading glasses to people in need, meaning that every pair of sunglasses that is  purchased by you or someone else allows a child or adult to see clearly, the Maddison May crossbody; found here, and a cute wood necklace that I received as a gift all the way from Australia. Standing on Top of a Mountain

I do not know about you but I think that every fall I need to get a new coat. So during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in August I scooped up this collarless crepe topper. I paired it with white skinny jeans (yes you can wear white after Labor Day), a simple gray tee and gray booties, which are great for transitioning to cooler temperatures. I additionally accessorized this outfit  with a cute scarf that has skulls on it, bright earrings and necklace, and a cross body. A cross body is great for travel because it is easy to carry and more secure.

These pictures were taken while I was in Big Sky, Montana. If you have never been to Montana I recommend it. Big Sky, Montana is a ski resort village nestled on top of the Lone Peak Mountain and Mountain Village. If you are an avid skier, then I am sure you have been there, considering that Big Sky is known to be the biggest ski place in America. They have lots of activities for the non skier too. Check out their website to plan trip.

The Perfect Fall Outfit In Big Sky

Even though it doesn’t feel like it here in Kentucky, Thursday is the first day of Fall. It is still warm and humid! Ugh! But no fear it is coming and last week I got my first taste of it, while I was in Montana. Can you believe it even snowed?

If you have never been to Montana I recommend it. I visited Big Sky, Montana. It is a ski resort village nestled on top of the Lone Peak Mountain and Mountain Village. If you are an avid skier, then I am sure you have been there, considering that Big Sky is known to be the biggest ski place in America. They have lots of activities for the non skier too, more of that to come in future post. Check out their website to plan trip.
One thing I do suggest if you are planning on visiting Big Sky, bring warm clothes! This is not a joke! It snows in September, but it is beautiful. I combatted the 30-40 degree temps in this stylish fur vest, paired with a 3/4 length sleeve high/low tunic and white denim jeans. Yes you can wear white after labor. I finished the outfit with tan booties and a tan purse, followed by accessorizing it with a pop of turquoise in these earrings and necklace

Yesterday I was in our local paper, The Courier Journal. It may not be a big deal to some but I am honored about the exposure. Every Sunday the paper runs the Scene section, which basically covers beauty and style trends. In this section they feature a Stylemaker, a man or women with unique personal style. You have to be nominated by someone. One of my best friends was gracious enough to nominate me, Thanks Audrey! Check out the article online here and shop my outfit below.

Weekend in the Desert

This past weekend I flew out to the Palm Desert to meet my boyfriend at the HITS Desert Circuit Horse Show. He is the National Sales Manager for Equine Motorcoach (website here). If you have horses you really should check out the motorcoach. The views in the Palm Desert are spectacular, as you can see from the pictures.

It gets pretty hot here in the desert so I made sure I packed a lot of dresses. This one I have on is a favorite. A Lilly Pulitzer from last year. I have linked new similar Lilly’s here and here. I accessorized it with my Kendra Scott earrings, found here, my Louis Vuitton tote (here), and Tory Burch sandals (similar here and here). I have linked my outfit details below.

If you have never been to a horse show you should check one out. It is very interesting. I did not know too much about horses, unless they were running at the Kentucky Derby (being that I am from Kentucky) until I started attending these shows. There are many different disciplines and I am learning about many of them slowly.
Hope you enjoy!

How to Pack for a Long Week Away when Flying

This week I will be in Palm Springs, San Diego, and LA. Going to three different spots it is hard to make sure you pack everything and get it all to fit in your luggage. Here is my packing guide and how to make it all fit.

What to pack in your carry-on:

In my carry-on I usually pack my valuables and anything I will need on the plane or immediately when getting to my destination. My carry-on list is as follows:
*My carry on bag is here (eyeing this one here too)
*Noise-canceling headphones for the plane (here)
*My Cannon Rebel Digital Camera for blog and travel pictures (similar here)
*My expensive handbags (two of my favorites here and here)
*My expensive jewelry (some favorites here and here)
*Sunglasses (including these here and here)
*Any medications, vitamins (hair vitamins here), lip balm (here)
*Expensive Makeup that is allowed through security (here are two favorites here and here)
*Chargers and and portable chargers (here
*My Laptop and iPad
*Extra set of clothes, extra panties and bra……just in case my suitcase doesn’t arrive when I do 🙁
*Swimsuit (eyeing this one here) and beach towel here)
*Extra pair of sandals (two favorites here and here)
*A book (currently reading this, next this)
For the suitcase I check (found here) I add in the rest. This seems to be a favorite suitcase of many here.

All the clothes you will need. I try to limit this so that the bag is not too heavy.
*I take one pair of jeans (my favorite right now are these white denims here)
*Always have a pair of leggings (favorites here)
*One pair of heels for nights out (Loving these here)
*Skincare products (Favorites here, here, and here)
*Makeup (Favorites here, here, and here
*I also make sure I have an extra sweater (here and here)
*A rain coat (here)
*A pair of gym shoes (eyeing these here)
*All my clothing I plan to wear (I make sure I plan out by day with one or two extra option just in case. I do this so I do not over pack. Taking a lot of dresses for this trip because the weather will be nice. Two of my favorite dresses are here and here
I try to pack this strategically so that it is organized and and everything fits. I store all my makeup and skincare products in a cosmetic bag (favorite here and here). Put my shoes in shoe bags (here and here). I roll my jeans and leggings so they do not take up too much room. I fold up the rest of my clothes and place them on one side of the suitcase on the other I put the shoes and then my makeup bag on top of the shoes. I put under garments and night clothes in the front zippers and use the top zippers for anything else or to store my dirty clothes though out the week.
One thing that I always do is add an identifying piece on the outside my checked luggage, such as a ribbon because with so many suitcases at baggage claim it is easier to spot yours.
What are some of your packing tips that work for you? I have also link some of the items i mention above and some of the pieces I will be wearing this week below. Hope you enjoy!
