I need a tropical vacation ASAP, but since that is not happening I can at least pretend and dress like I am on an island, right?? How do you dress on vacay? My look is usually simple and relaxed with with pops of color and unique accessories, like I did with this outfit here. A black tank goes well with almost anything and white jeans most definitely stand out, particularly during the summer’s lush landscape. I added some color with these coral tassel earrings which I am in love with and will be wearing all summer. Then can we talk about these shoes? They are perfect since I am pretty much the Plant Lady of Louisville! Lol! Did you know the floral meaning of Cactus is longevity and endurance. Something we all need right?!?

Are you ready for Derby? I’m ready! I have my dress and my fascinator all laid out. What are you wearing? We are a week out from one of the most popular horse races in the US, the Kentucky Derby. It is a tradition if you go to the Derby to wear a hat or a fascinator. I am not a huge hat person, but fascinators are right up my alley. To the point that I am wearing one for my wedding. Fascinators are pretty much all the rage right now and a great alternative to wearing a hat. I think they are great to show your personality or to add a pop of color to your outfit. I have linked many affordable fascinators here and below.
Now on to the dress! What do you wear to the Kentucky Derby? A fancy dress of course. When I get a chance to get all dolled up, I always take it. Going to Churchill Downs on this special day is one of those chances. The Derby is basically a fashion show. The higher the heels and the bigger the hat the better. I bought this dress a couple months ago on sale from Draper James and saved it for this specific event. Isn’t it perfect? (find a similar dress here).
This week heading into the Kentucky Derby there are many fun activities that us locals and out of towners can get involved in, such as Beer Fest, Wine Fest, Boat Race, Pegasus Parade, Chow Wagon and multiple others you can find here.
Happy Derby Week!
What is Home is Key? It is Habitat for Humanity’s national campaign to help address the nation’s rising affordable housing problem. Did you know that one in four households in the US pays more then 30% of their income for housing, leaving it very difficult to afford other basic necessities? Having affordable housing allows families to have more resources and live healthier safer lives. Home is Key wants to unlock the future for many families this April by educating and partnering with people that want to help spread their message. So why not do your part?
There are many ways to get involved in this project, but one I want to specifically focus on in this post deals with shopping, of course! Chico’s FAS, the parent company of White House Black Market (WHBM), Chico’s, and Soma Intimates is supporting this campaign by allowing their customers to donate in each of their stores or online. Also the company has picked specific items from the stores that all the proceeds from that item will be donated to Home is Key during a set time. From April 23-May 31st WHBM proceeds from every Comfort Stretch Ankle Pant sold will go to support Habitat. These pants are super comfy, have great stretch (lets face it ladies we love a pant that has a little give), and the fit is excellent (true to size). I only have one pair, but I am thinking I need to invest in another, especially since it can help a family have a safe living environment and also because they look great with my cactus shirt! 🙂
So join me and get involved by visiting Habitat.org/key and make a donation in any amount. Home is the Key runs through April 30. Every little bit helps!
Are you sticking to your resolutions?? I am motivated to reach the goals I set for 2018. That is why I am voicing them to my followers, so you can keep me accountable. My first resolution was to take better care of my skin (day 10 and I am still all in!), and now my second is to wear stylish athletic clothes (lol!), no really it is to get in shape for my up coming wedding (September will be here before you know it), but I definitely plan to be stylish while doing it. This is why I have fallen in love with the Athleta Up for Anything Tight. These tights are amazing and here is why:
*The versatility of them are what you are looking for. From barre to pilates to strength training or a 5k run, these tights are definitely Up for Anything.
*They are made from a new sculpteck light fabric so the fit is light weight and they have lighter compression then most, that still allows full movement with support. Basically they are super comfy and you are going to want to wear them all the time.
*They have pockets!! No one is probably more happy about this then me! Athlesiure attire with pockets are my favorite. It means you can go straight from working out to running errands or vice versa. The tights have enough places to hold all your personal items while on the go. There are 4 pockets- 2 side stash packets, 1 zip pocket, and 1 internal key pocket.
*No flip waistband. How many pants have you had that flip over at the top? I hate that. These don’t roll at the top.
*Athleta even thought of safety. The 7/8 and full length have a reflective trim sewn into the bottom hem on the inside. So when you go for that early morning or night run, you just flip up the hem for a much needed reflective feature.
Tell me you don’t already think they are awesome and you haven’t even tried them yet? 🙂

Who says you can’t be a fashionable fan? Many think that to attend a game or to cheer on you favorite team you have to be sporing a shirt with the team logo. I personally believe as long as you are wearing the team colors, you can be their biggest fan.
Not all sporting attire fits along the lines of style, but more along the lines of comfort. Don’t get me wrong, I love a hoodie and I am pretty much excited that it is hoodie season, but if you are trying to add some fashion and flair to your tailgating then you have to plan out your outfit.
Since I am a Louisville Cardinal (#GOCARDS) and this post is just in time for ESPN College GameDay in the Ville this weekend, I will be sporting red and black and throwing up my L’s. I opted to style myself in red skinny pants, which is a bold way to add the color of you favorite team. Since Louisville’s secondary color is black I choose to add a button up. Try adding your team’s secondary color as a shirt option. I loving adding leopard to an outfit. Like I always say Leopard is a neutral. Find my number one leopard accessory here. For those real fashionistas adding a heel (found here) is no worries, but a flat will do just the same. I finished my outfit with Louisville Cardinals signature L earrings. It is always nice to add touches of your teams logos. What is your favorite way to dress up your tailgating and game day attire? Shop mine below.
