Who Is Ready for Derby??

Shop: Dress | Fascinator (One, Two, Three) | Clutch | Shoes | Necklace

Are you ready for Derby? I’m ready! I have my dress and my fascinator all laid out. What are you wearing? We are a week out from one of the most popular horse races in the US, the Kentucky Derby. It is a tradition if you go to the Derby to wear a hat or a fascinator. I am not a huge hat person, but fascinators are right up my alley. To the point that I am wearing one for my wedding. Fascinators are pretty much all the rage right now and a great alternative to wearing a hat. I think they are great to show your personality or to add a pop of color to your outfit. I have linked many affordable fascinators here and below.

Now on to the dress! What do you wear to the Kentucky Derby? A fancy dress of course. When I get a chance to get all dolled up, I always take it. Going to Churchill Downs on this special day is one of those chances. The Derby is basically a fashion show. The higher the heels and the bigger the hat the better. I bought this dress a couple months ago on sale from Draper James and saved it for this specific event. Isn’t it perfect? (find a similar dress here).

This week heading into the Kentucky Derby there are many fun activities that us locals and out of towners can get involved in, such as Beer Fest, Wine Fest, Boat Race, Pegasus Parade, Chow Wagon and multiple others you can find here.

Happy Derby Week!

Home is the Key: Chico’s Basic Essential Slub Tee

My last blog post explain what the Home is the Key Campaign is all about (read that post here). It is a wonderful campaign with an amazing cause that works towards combating the affordable housing crisis here in the US. I have chosen to collaborating with them by showing off my style in this Chico’s Basic Essential Slub Tee. Chico’s and Chico’s FAS brand stores have partnered with Habitat for Humanity by allow their customers to donate in store and online to help with this cause. Each Chico’s FAS brand stores (White House Black MarketChico’s, and Soma Intimates) have chosen a product to donate all proceeds when purchased to Habitat from April 23-May 31. For Chico’s that item is their Basic Essential Slub Tee, which I am wearing in this post. It is truly the perfect tee because of its high low design that allows it to be longer in the back and shorter in the front, which is great for leggings or that half tucked look. The shirt is super comfortable and works well with jeans, liked I paired it here. I added some cute accessories, such as my legacy belt, beaded earrings and a clutch that showcases one of my favorite fruits, pineapple (which means hospitality and friendship). Style yours anyway you like, considering the tee can go with almost anything.

There are many ways to get involved with Home is the Key. Check out their website (here) for more information.

Happy Friday! It is actually feeling like Spring today for the first time, and I couldn’t be more excited! What about you? I am so over the cold and snowy weather. Now that it has warmed up, what do you wear? Well for me its leggings of course. I love the faux leather ones, which are great for Spring, considering that in the morning and evening the temperature maybe a littler more chillier. I styled the leggings with a black tank, which is perfect for that afternoon warmer temps. I paired the outfit with a tan moto jacket to give it a little color. Added a couple of accessories and wedges and I was good to go. What are you wearing today??

Not Yet Spring

Shop: Jacket | Leggings | Blouse | Purse | Shoes

What is this weather doing? One day snow and freezing, the next day it feels like summer. When this happens it is hard to know how to dress. My suggestions is layers upon layers, it is the only way to get through the day. This transitional weather is just right for a thin leather jacket (which I like to call my going out jacket), paired with the right outfit its perfect. These faux leather leggings are my favorite and have been on heavy rotation during these colder weather days. With this layered look, I added a lot of textures, solids and patterns to the mix. When I pattern mix I like to stick to the same color or colors that compliment each other so it looks like a cohesive outfit. All in all this outfit is great to take from day to night. Whats your favorite all day outfit? Shop mine below.

Having A Staycation at the New Omni Louisville

A week ago I had the privilege of venturing around and staying at the new Omni Louisville (as a early birthday gift). The hotel did not disappoint. The interior design and architecture is definitely top notch. Not only are the rooms impeccable the restaurants, market, boutique, and speakeasy are a must even if you do not stay for the night. The hotel is complete with two dine-in restaurants, Neighborhood Services and Bob’s Steak and Chop House, both are well worth your time and money.  If you are just in the mood for a drink try The Library; a bar designed to look like a public library, or Pin + Proof; a speakeasy with a bowling alley (which is a lot of fun).
Lets talk about the Fall City Market….I’m in love with this concept. It’s perfect…Heine Bros. (coffee shop for the non-locals), a wine shop, a flower shop, an actual grocery, and a couple different dining spaces to choose from. I mean you could quite easily spend a couple hours just in this space.
The Omni also has all the upscale amenities such as Mokara Spa, a state of the art gym, and a rooftop pool with a bar called The Water Company. It really has everything you need to enjoy a couple days off from the real world or host a big event, such as a wedding or conference. I am totally ready to move in. This is a possibility since they have luxury apartments (details here).
What do you wear for a staycation? Comfy casual, of course! As I did here. I took black leggings paired them with a bell sleeved sweatshirt (which are really the trend right now), and my favorite leopard print flats. What is your favorite staycation outfit? shop mine below.

Transitioning to Spring with Pattern and Color

Some days it might not feel like it, especially with this crazy snow, but the first day of Spring is literally around the corner. I am looking forward to warmer weather and bright colors as you can see from my outfit. This Spring I am all about the bold solids and leopard anything. In my book leopard will always be a neutral, and this blouse compliments almost any bold color you can find. For this outfit I paired a yellow blazer with cream and gold details, with this leopard blouse. If that was not enough pattern and color I added a pop of red with a clutch and lipstick. Finishing the look with black leggings and spiked heels. This will definitively be a go to for the warmer weather. What does you Spring outfit look like? Shop mine below.

Wifey to Be

Wifey to be….that’s me! Wedding prep is definitely underway and September will be here before you know it. Planning on doing a monthly wedding update here on the blog starting in February. So stay tuned!! Now on to this post…

Freezing temperatures and snow covered ground. Who is ready for spring? I have had my fix of the cold and I am almost ready to see it go. Although I do love cold weather clothing, this getting up and wondering if the roads are drivable is not idea. Anyway, I am loving this outfit I have on in this post. My puffy vest collection has been on full rotation during the cold months. I paired this one with leggings that have leather accents, my black wifey sweatshirt (which is most important), a leopard print scarf and tank, and ducks boots (which I am truly thankful for in this weather). What is your favorite snow day outfit? Shop mine below.

Serengeti Coat

Shop: Coat | Bag | Tunic | Jeans | Booties | Lipsticks

Get it, while the getting is good! This Serengeti Coat is almost gone so if you are in love with it, then I am here to tell you that it will be going away this Friday (January 19th) for good. The coat is made of Mohair wool, which means it is super soft and warm. Plus, the pattern is gorgeous. Every time I wear it I get compliments on it. I paired the coat with skinny jeans and a black tunic. It has quickly became a staple in my wardrobe and it is the perfect piece for travel and being a tourist. I accessorized with a suede hobo cross body and tan booties. If you are on the fence about the coat it is so worth it!

New Year, New Skincare Routine

New Year, New Skincare Routine! One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to take better care of my skin. Meaning use great products, protect it from the sun’s harmful rays, not using damaging chemicals that can dry out my skin, and removing my makeup every night before bed. Sounds easy enough, right? It is, if you find a skincare system that you love! This year I plan on trying multiple skincare products at different price points to find what my skin really loves.

First up is the Elemis Biotec X Foreo Energizing Skincare System. I love the Elemis line. I have tried multiple other products and have not been disappointed. My favorite in this skincare system is the night cream and the Luna Play. Check out my YouTube video below or here on how to use the products and why these two are my favorites.
