Finally Fall

It’s finally fall and in some places it really feels like it in others not so much. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love sweaters, boots, scarfs, and anything pumpkin. Are you a fall lover? One misconception about fall is that you can’t wear white. Well…that’s not true and these white jeans will definitely be on full rotation until at least November, if not longer. I paired them with an off the shoulder sweater, which is perfect for this time of the year since we have mild morning and warmer afternoons. I brought in some browns with the wedges and tote to complete the outfit. I am partially to brown and tan tones because they are a neutral and go with almost any skin tone. These colors are a staple for fall.
The funnest part about this shoot was it was like 90 degrees and humid, and I am over here preparing for fall content. That is what a blogger does! 🙂 Happy Fall Y’all! Shop this look below.

Up for Anything

Shop the Up for Anything Tight: 7/8 Length | Capri | Crop

Are you sticking to your resolutions?? I am motivated to reach the goals I set for 2018. That is why I am voicing them to my followers, so you can keep me accountable. My first resolution was to take better care of my skin (day 10 and I am still all in!), and now my second is to wear stylish athletic clothes (lol!), no really it is to get in shape for my up coming wedding (September will be here before you know it), but I definitely plan to be stylish while doing it. This is why I have fallen in love with the Athleta Up for Anything Tight. These tights are amazing and here is why:

*The versatility of them are what you are looking for. From barre to pilates to strength training or a 5k run, these tights are definitely Up for Anything.

*They are made from a new sculpteck light fabric so the fit is light weight and they have lighter compression then most, that still allows full movement with support. Basically they are super comfy and you are going to want to wear them all the time.

*They have pockets!! No one is probably more happy about this then me! Athlesiure attire with pockets are my favorite. It means you can go straight from working out to running errands or vice versa. The tights have enough places to hold all your personal items while on the go. There are 4 pockets- 2 side stash packets, 1 zip pocket, and 1 internal key pocket.

*No flip waistband. How many pants have you had that flip over at the top? I hate that. These don’t roll at the top.

*Athleta even thought of safety. The 7/8 and full length have a reflective trim sewn into the bottom hem on the inside. So when you go for that early morning or night run, you just flip up the hem for a much needed reflective feature.

Tell me you don’t already think they are awesome and you haven’t even tried them yet? 🙂

Jack Daniel’s Savor & Share with Maureen Petrosky hosted by Whisky Chicks

What is your Whisky story? Mine is simple. I am from Kentucky and grew up hearing the words bourbon and whisky often, if you are from these parts you definitely understand. When I became of age and was able to drink, like most other college kids I reached for the beer and the vodka (this could be the fact that most undergrads know these are cheap and usually alway available). As I grew older my pallet changed and I began to appreciate the taste of bourbon, so it soon began to be one of my go to drinks. Insert the Whisky Chicks 😉 If you haven’t heard of them you should.
Whisky Chicks are a group of ladies of all ages (21+), who embrace the unique tastes of a good bottle of bourbon. They pride themselves on being libation liberators; meaning they help women appreciate and love cocktails that are outside of their standard girly norm. They are whisky educators, and friend facilitators. Whisky Chicks started over cocktails and conversation about how hard it is to meet other women with similar interest. During that conversation with founder Linda Ruffenach the idea of Whisky Chicks emerged.
Why do women love attending Whisky Chicks events?? From talking to other ladies at their events women love a place where they feel welcome to come by themselves, where they have an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, a great place for professionals to network, and be educated on the different brands of whiskey the world has to offer. You always leave with knowledge on how to make a new cocktail, a new friend, or even a great idea. As many of us know most great ideas and business ventures start over cocktails. Whisky Chicks’ events are not only attended by females, males are welcomed too. Lots of husbands, boyfriends, and men that are interested in learning about bourbon have always been a fixture at many of their events.
Jack Daniel’s Savor & Share with Maureen Petrosky was an exclusive event hosted by the Whisky Chicks. Savor & Share is a collaboration between Jack Daniel’s and Maureen Petrosky. Maureen is a lifestyle Expert who has written books such as, The Cocktail Club and The Wine Club (find books here), a columnist for Today.com and thekitchn.com, a chef, an event host and brand ambassador. Check out her website here. Savor and Share consist of a series of videos featuring cocktails, sample recipes for simple appetizers and easy tips for throwing a party. (Savor & Share Autumn Brunch video, Fall Fire Pit video)
This Whisky Chicks’ event did not disappoint. As soon as you walked in the door the attention to detail that the hostesses laid out was a whiskey lover’s dream. I mean who doesn’t want an elevator cocktail to start! Yes please! Sparkling Apple Sangria with Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel for the win. The night was filled with appetizers, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel tastings, great cocktails (especially the awesome spiked s’mores hot chocolate you will see below) and a little bit about how Savor & Share with Maureen Petrosky and Jack Daniel’s came about.
Ana Kornegay, Brand Director for Jack Daniel’s Craft and Luxury, educated the attendees on Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Whiskey. She says it is one to pull out for your favorite guest that you are trying to impress. This collection is made from Jack Daniel’s finest stock of whiskey, bottled in the smallest batches one barrel at a time.
Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Whiskey consist of:
*Single Barrel Select- Your pallet will taste rich toffee, caramel, cinnamon, orange, clove, and oak.
*Single Barrel Rye- 94 proof with a bold taste of rye mixed with ripe fruit and toasted oak, which gives a peppery spice finish.
*Single Barrel Barrel Proof- A smooth taste of brown sugar, toasted oak and a hint of dark spice.
Single Barrel 100 Proof- Traveler’s exclusive with toasted oak, sweet vanilla, and a light spices.
If you love whiskey Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel is one to try.

Kentucky Oaks 141

Happy Sunday Peeps! This past week was Derby week here in the Bluegrass. It is basically like a holiday here in Louisville. Many Derby inspired events and activities happen leading up to the Derby. It is definitely one of the funnest times of the year. You can see a list of events here. This year I attended the 141st running of the Oaks at Churchill Downs and watched the Derby at home with my family. I have been to both the Derby and the Oaks many times in past years. It is well worth it if you have never been to go at least once. Check out my day at the Oaks below as well as outfit details. Hope you enjoy!

Half Classic

Happy Sunday all! Hope you are having a great weekend. How many of you are into running? 5k? 10k? Half-marathon? Marathon? I don’t know if I would 100% say I was into running. I just like the fact that it is an excise that can net you many calories (I like to eat) and is usually a full body workout. This year I decided to do the Kentucky Half Classic. This is where you run 2 half marathons on 2 different days and it is added up to equal a full marathon. So a total of 26.2 miles when you finish. The best thing about it is that you get 3 medals. One for each half and one to signify that you completed both. Awesome! The theme of the Half Classic this year was “Make Mine a Double”, I am sure to play off the fact of Kentucky being known for it’s Bourbon (and who would not want double of that!). The first of the 2 was Run the Bluegrass on March 28, 2015. This race was held in Lexington, starting and ending in Keeneland Horse Park . During this race you run through many picturesque horse farms. A couple includes Donamire Farm and Stonestreet Farm. I have to say it was a beautiful run. The second race with the Kentucky Derby miniMarathon on April 25, 2015. This is held in Louisville and takes place in conjunction with all the Kentucky Derby Festivities leading up to the Kentucky Derby. Check out all the great Derby festivities here . This half marathon is held in an urban setting running through Churchill Downs, the University of Louisville campus, and running passed the Louisville Slugger Museum. Both of these races were a great experience. I have finished the mini twice before but have never attempted the Half Classic. Although  Run the Bluegrass is a challenging course (very hilly), it was well worth it to say I finished the Half Classic at least once. Profits from both of these races go to help support 2 dozen charities, that in its self is enough to make me want to participate. Check out my experience below. Hope you enjoy!

This is the Papa John’s 10-Miler another race I did before the miniMarathon
This is a dress that a high schooler made out of the left over medals from pervious years. Isn’t fabulous? I say she has a future in fashion design.

The Highlands

Happy Tuesday ya’ll! Lol! Is everyone ready for Christmas? I am almost there. I have a couple more gifts to wrap and I will be ready. So on Sunday I had a little photo session in the Highlands in Louisville with TrulyBeIconic. Check out her blog here. I was driving up Bardstown Rd and saw this building with great wall art and said “I need a shot in front of this!” So below are the shots from my sunday photo shoot. Enjoy!
