Feeling Navy

So this week I have really been feeling navy. This is the second outfit this week that has been navy inspired. Since it was a rainy day I had an opportunity to wear my navy Hunter rain boots. I always welcome a chance to wear my rain boots. I paired these with a pair of skinny jeans and one of my favorite sweaters. This navy and cream zebra print INC sweater I found at Macy’s. I love this sweater because of its silver detailing around the neck. It reminds me of a great statement piece that you would have in your necklace collection. I also added a navy Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. Finished off this look with me navy Michael Kors watch and some silver bangles. I think my London Fog rain coat added a little flair too. What is one of your favorite pieces in your fashion collection?

Motivation Monday

Happy Monday! It is the beginning of a new week so it is time to set goals, make to do lists, finish what you started and leave your mark on the world. In order to accomplish all these tasks you have to stay motivated. One way I stay motivated is by reading self help books that boost my positivity and motivate me to continue on my journeys. One of my favorite motivational speakers and author is Jon Gordon. Two books of his I have read are The Energy Bus and The Positive Dog. His books are an easy read and will leaving feeling like you can accomplish anything that you are committed to. Check out his website http://www.jongordon.com/. Another of my favorite motivational speakers is Michael Gebben. He has a YouTube channel called Anything is Possible where he post motivational videos every Wednesday. Definitely watch worthy https://www.youtube.com/user/michaelgebben. He also has a blog you should check out http://michaelgebben.com/. The next book on my list to read is The Confidence Code http://theconfidencecode.com/. I have heard  such good things about this book and cannot wait to read it. I think motivation is key to positive outcomes. So filling my head with positivity allows me to conquer difficult goals and task that I never thought possible. What are some of the ways you stay motivated?
For my Monday outfit of the day I chose to keep it simple. But yet I love this outfit. This vest is on sale now at Old Navy. Found this navy gingham print shirt in the men’s section in Target. Ladies never be afraid to style up a mens shirt. So go ahead and venture into you husband’s or boyfriend’s closet. I topped off the outfit with a pair of skinny jeans and some riding boots.

Lover of Pomegranates

It is pomegranate season and this makes me happy. I love pomegranates. Not only because they are such a beautiful color, but because of the nutritional benefits. Did you know that pomegranates are low in fat, free of saturated fat, sodium free, and cholesterol free? If that isn’t enough to make you run out and grab one, then maybe the fact that pomegranates are a great source of fiber, potassium, and vitamins C and K will. They are also a good source of folate and copper. The one thing I do not like about them is deseeding them. So here is a easy way to deseed them without staining your fingers, clothes, and the rest of your kitchen.

Steps to Deseeding a Pomegranate

1. Cut the pomegranate in half with a sharp knife.

2. Fill a large bowl half way with water.

3. Place one half of the pomegranate in the bowl of water.

4. Start peeling the rind and separating the seeds from the translucent white flesh. The seeds will sink to the bottom of the bowl and the rind and flesh should float to the top.

5. Remove the rind, flesh, and drain the water off the seeds.

All pomegranates contains hundreds of seeds. These seeds and its translucent flesh are edible. So enjoy eating them raw or add them to your favorite yogurt,  salad, or even juice them for a healthy drink.
