Derby Season

Happy Derby Week All! If you are from Kentucky you know what this week entails. There are many festivities that lead up to this anticipated 2 minute horse race that takes place the first Saturday in May. Such festivities as the Derby Parade, Chow Wagon, Wine & Beer Fest, The Oaks and many more (check out the list of events here). Going to the races is usually all about the hat, but in my case it is about the fascinator.  What you choose to wear on your head is a fashion statement, so you want to choose wisely. This one is from Griffin Hatters, check them out for all your hat needs for men and women.

What is your fashion statement for the Derby? Check out my pick below.

Styling in the Concrete Jungle

It’s always a struggle to stick out in a fashionable city like NYC. So I opt for little touches of color in my accessories, like I did in this outfit.

As you know I am a India Hicks’ Style Ambassador, so I am partial to many of her accessories, such as this Siren Scarf (here) and the Carmen Clutch (found here), which are two of my favorites from the collection. I paired these two with multicolored tassel earrings (similar), a black and white dress, with black booties and tights to finish the look. This outfit is easy to recreate and can be worn almost anywhere, such as to work, out with friends or even date night. It is also a great transition outfit from cold weather to Spring like weather. How do you stand out in the concrete jungle? Shop some of my ideas to help you below.

Palms Dress

Since I cannot be on an island the whole summer, I decided to just look like I was on the island.

This dress (here) which is a summer favorite, has a matching jumpsuit (found it here), both are almost sold out, so here are two similar alternatives here and here. It is light weight, fun and flirty. Great for a summer outdoors wedding, dinner on the beach, or date night with that special someone. I paired the dress with cage sandals (found here), one of my favorite designer handbags (here), and a bold green beaded necklace (similar here).

My cute braidband (found here) is from Justbraydz by Chaya. check out her intsagram and her website. She does awesome braided headbands and undetectable extensions that match your natural hair color. Her pieces take your hair from boring to fabulous. I definitely got many compliments on my wreath headband.

The wood watch that I am sporting in the pictures below is from JORD Wood Watches. Find the exact one here. All their women’s watches can be found at this link. These stylish watches have been seen all over social media. This uniquely designed timepiece goes with almost any outfit. If you want to add one to you collection here is your chance. Splurge vs. Save

                                 One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine

Do not get me wrong! I love expensive bags and shoes as much as the next fashionista, but sometimes it is just not in the budget to spend an exorbitant amount of money on frivolous items. No worries because I have rounded up some stylish money savers that look just like the real thing.

This bag here, which is under $25, is a great alternative for similar expensive handbags (here and here).  These coveted wedges (found here) have been all over social media. Well you do not have to break the bank to be stylish, these look a like wedges (here) are under $35. Espadrilles have been all the rage lately. These cute ones here are under $30, which are similar to these more expensive ones found here.
What are some of your saves? Shop the rest of mine below.

Poches & Fils

Lets face it….we all have multiple teeshirts right? ones that we can just throw on with anything. But I am a fan of cute tees. The ones that you can wear out and that look fashionable. I found some great ones from Poches & Fils, a company that specializes in great tees with cute customizable pockets.

View their website here (use code instafashion for a discount). They have awesome designs to choose from for Men, women and kids.  I paired my Poches & Fils Romeo et Juliette Pocket Tee with skinny jeans, A pink hoodie (similar here), and one of my favorite tweed puffy down vest (similar one here).  I finished off the outfit with tan booties (similar here), the Claire V Haircalf Fold over clutch (found here), and Kendra Scott Elle Earrings in Slate (here). I am all about cute casual outfits that easy to wear from one function to another. Below I have linked similar items. Hope you enjoy!

Casual Wear

Back to scarf weather. Although I love spring and summer there is nothing like having the chance to accessorize with a great blanket scarf. I could probably open a store with the amount of scarfs I have. They are great to add a little bit of color or flair to an outfit.

I paired this scarf with gray skinny jeans (which can be found here), a comfy sweater and a puffy down vest. I also have multiple vest too. They are another of my favorites items for winter. I added these duck boots from Lands End (similar here), which I have been wearing all season. You definitely need a pair is the winter months if you live in a place that gets snow. I finished the look with pink lipstick ( which can be found here). You can never go wrong with pink lipstick. This is probably one of my favorite outfits because it is very casual and can be worn for most low key activities, like running errands or getting coffee with friends. What is your favorite casual outfit? Shop similar items below. Hope you enjoy!

Burgundy Sweater

I love this color. Personally I think it looks good on my skin tone so when I saw this sweater I instantly was thinking of how I would style it. Since we are getting into the colder months sweaters are definitely in full rotations.

I love this one because of the cable knit and the zipper detail. I styled it with some of my favorite gray skinny jeans, a pop of leopard, and burgundy booties to match. I topped it off with a gold bracelet, watch and ring. The earrings matched my gray denim.  Check out the look below. I have linked similar pieces.
